Crafting revolution

There is something insidious happening in Perth. Its rather exciting actually seeing that Perth truly is the most remote capital city in in the world. Needless to say, it lacks a certain soul or spirit. Well, I think it is in the brink of a revolution. A crafting revolution.

Someone has been taking a crochet needle to the bike rakes in the city! I've seen a few already but whenever I go back to take a photo, it is gone! Probably at the hands of a council officer who deems it vandalism.

This morning, I chanced upon another.

See what I mean? Whoever you are, keep it up! I think it is simply wonderful. It's such a colour and tactile bubble of a definite human scale to the hard cold surface of the city.

Here's to leading the arts revolution the crafting way!

Happy 5th Birthday, son!

Five years ago, I was gazing down at the most beautiful thing I have ever been a part of. He had the cutest nose, tiniest feet and toes and a little hair swirl at the end of his left eyebrow (which he seems to have lost). Oh and he smelt divine!

Fast forward five years and I have this amazing little person who never ceases to amaze us, has a great sense of humour and wants to be paleontologist when he grows up.

Today, we celebrated with a little family get together. We all had a great time and the mood was easy going. AND the weather was simply beautiful. Sunny, warm, just a little humid and best of all, overcast for that soft warm glow.

Here's Zach's birthday in pictures:

Oh and in case you are wondering why the cake is a simple ice cream cake...his Auntie Tina was a little baked out after making these for his class on Friday!
